The Wild Robot by Peter Brown When Roz is shipwrecked on a deserted island, she must learn how to survive in her harsh surroundings with its hostile inhabitants. Bit just when she starts to make friends -her mysterious past comes back to haunt her. It is ultimately a story about fitting in and finding a family. MS Environment, Science Fiction, Robots What I liked: I liked the character of Roz --she had heart and it was a struggle for her to fit in with the others on the island. She had to work hard at understanding the animals but she never gave up even when things were difficult. I liked the humor in the story as well. Who should read it: robot enthusiasts, science fiction fans, those who want a heart warming story about friendship and family If you liked this, then try: Monday September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day! A little about myself. I am originally from Michigan but I haven't lived here since I was 12 years old. So it is good to be back. I started teaching in Texas and went on to teach in New Mexico and then, Mexico. I went back to Texas and got my library degree and started my school library career there. I then was the librarian at the International School of Curacao and then most recently the Seoul International School. I am excited to read and share some great books this year. Come on down to the Maltby Media Center and talk to me about some of your favorite reads from this summer. Some of my favorite reads from this summer are: |
