The Best Worst Thing by Kathleen Lane Maggie is already anxious about middle school and her changing friendship with her best friend Kelsey. When the local grocery is robbed and the clerk is killed, Maggie's anxiety becomes full-blown OCD. In addition to her fear of the robber in the neighborhood; she worries about Mr. Gullick's rabbits and the bully from school, Gordy, who is also a neighbor. What I liked about it: I liked that the character of Maggie felt real. She had problems but they weren't unrealistic and things weren't always solved easily or even happily all the time. Who should read it: People who like realistic fiction and stories about real people. People interested in stories about mental illness (OCD) or social issues such as bullying and animal rights.
